2023-2024 Proposed Final General Fund Budget
The proposed general fund budget has revenues of $38,921,516 and expenditures of $40,340,367, using the district reserve fund to balance the budget with a planned use of $1,418,851. The budget includes a tax increase of .82 mills raising the real estate tax rate to 21.01 mills for the 2023-24 school year.
Included in the budget is an increase in debt service due to the borrowing for the High School / Middle School renovation project along with a $1,000,000 transfer to Capital Projects for future capital improvements including the HS/MS Roof and wrestling room. The budget is impacted by an 14% increase in medical insurance premiums estimated at $460,000.
The increase in the revenue budget due to the millage increase is $1,005,000. The median value of a home in Avonworth is $244,250. The increase of .82 mills in the tax rate equates to $200.29 or $16.69 per month for a median valued home. The average millage rate for Allegheny County School Districts for the 2022-23 fiscal year is 23.00 with Avonworth being the 12th lowest at 20.19.
