2024-2025 Proposed Final General Fund Budget

The proposed general fund budget has revenues of $40,631,322 and expenditures of $40,846,002 using the district reserve fund to balance the budget with a planned use of $214,680. The budget includes a tax increase of .42 mills raising the real estate tax rate to 21.43 mills for the 2024-25 school year.

Included in the budget is an increase in debt service due to the borrowing for the High School / Middle School renovation project, personnel costs due to contractual increases, additional custodial staff and an additional High School / Middle School Specials teacher. The budget is impacted by an 9% increase in medical insurance premiums estimated at $300,000.

The increase in the revenue budget due to the millage increase is $518,662. Additional increases to the revenue budget include the TIF Dissolution of Mt. Nebo Pointe and earned income tax. The median value of a home in Avonworth is $229,000. The increase of .42 mills in the tax rate equates to $96.18 or $8.02 per month for a median valued home. The average millage rate for Allegheny County School Districts for the 2023-24 fiscal year is 24.52 with Avonworth being the 17th lowest at 21.01.
