The Avonworth School District is excited to announce that we are the recipient of the 2024 Child Hunger Hero award from Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank.
This honor is given to schools and community partners who go above and beyond in feeding kids in our community.
This year's highlights include:
- APC collected over 1000 boxes of stuffing for the Light of Light Rescue Mission.
- Students collected boxes of snack items to donate to Mary's Gate in honor of a cafeteria staff member's 85th birthday.
- Increased breakfast participation from 49,226 in 2022-2023 to 72,314 in 2023-2024!
We are proud of the hard work of our food service staff and are honored that we are one of the 43 winners to receive the award this year.
