Cultural Connections Day - Celebrating Black History Month

 

On February 24, 2025, the Avonworth Cafeteria celebrated Black History Month with a special Cultural Connections Day meal.

Students enjoyed a flavorful and nutritious menu, featuring a breaded chicken drumstick served alongside Hopin’ John, a traditional dish made of rice, black-eyed peas, sautéed vegetables, and savory seasonings. To complement the meal, cornbread, a variety of fruit, vegetable selections, and milk were also offered.

Additionally, as part of the PA Harvest of the Month program, a delicious marinated mushroom salad was included.

This celebration of culture and food brought the Avonworth community together for a day of shared learning and appreciation.
