Avonworth School District has been named a 2025 Child Hunger Hero by the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank, recognizing our ongoing commitment to helping feed children in our community.

The Child Hunger Hero Award Program honors school districts and community partners that go above and beyond to support food security for kids within the Food Bank’s service area. Partners are evaluated on their child nutrition programs, including school breakfast, summer food, afterschool meals, weekend meal initiatives, school pantries, and other child food security efforts.

This year, 47 school districts and 12 community sponsors applied for the program, with 18 gold, 18 silver, and 19 bronze honorees recognized for their outstanding efforts. Avonworth is proud to be among those making a difference in the fight against child hunger.

Congratulations to our Hunger Heroes for their dedication to caring for our students and strengthening our community!
