AFEE Grants Enrich Learning, Expand Student Opportunities

The generous support of the Avonworth Fund for Educational Excellence (AFEE) continues to enhance educational opportunities for students and faculty.
The Fund helped provide unique learning experiences for Avonworth students through its Spring 2025 grants:
- Support for APC students to experience science through community programs as well as the classroom, including live demonstrations from Pittsburgh’s Moon Shot Museum and presentations from Fern Hollow Nature Center.
- Yoga materials for AES whole class counseling lessons that focus on mindfulness, self-regulation, and coping skills.
- Portable music stands to encourage musical involvement, enhance music curriculum, and make music more accessible across the Avonworth community.
- Signage to promote the 8th grade Civics project “Chase the Antelopes 5k & 1-Mile Walk,” which helps students learn authentic citizenship skills, event planning, and ways to unite the community around an important cause.
- High quality, portable sound system for the Avonworth Marching Band and other AMS/AHS groups to make instruction and playing more efficient while helping enhance communication to large groups throughout the school.
Previous AFEE grants have provided new instruments for the growing AES orchestra program, materials for the AMS Life Skills program to help students with speech and socialization goals, hundreds of Decodable Books for APC students, AI and data visualization software for AHS courses, and more.
The AFEE recognizes academic, artistic, or technical excellence through awards and recognition, and also awards grants to enhance and support educational opportunities for students and faculty.
