Fire Prevention Month at the Avonworth Primary Center

October is Fire Prevention Month, and students in Grades K–2 at the Avonworth Primary Center learned valuable lessons about fire safety during a special visit from the Ohio Township and Emsworth Volunteer Fire Departments, along with NorthWest EMS.

Students enjoyed hands-on experiences exploring an ambulance and fire truck and practiced how to safely exit a home in the event of a fire. The visit was led by Firefighter Nate Nusskern, an Avonworth alumnus, who returned with several fellow alumni firefighters to share their expertise and commitment to community safety.

A highlight of the day was for second grader Maddie Fowkes, who was proud to see her dad, Firefighter Matt Fowkes, among the visiting volunteers.

The Avonworth Primary Center thanks all the firefighters and EMS personnel for making safety education engaging and memorable for our youngest learners.
