On Friday, November 21, 8th Grade Civics students spent the day honoring our nation's veterans by attending the annual Veterans Day Experience Workshop at the Heinz History Center.   Twenty-nine students developed questions to ask veterans prior to their field trip to gain eligibility for this unique experience.

At the History Center, veterans from Iraq, Vietnam, and World War II answered students' questions, shared personal stories, and brought artifacts from their time in the military.  Students met in small groups to have more personal interactions with each veteran and learned about their remarkable stories.  The heroic actions of these individuals were an inspiration to both students and teachers.

Veterans in attendance included:  Lee Wagner & Aryanna Wagner (Iraq), Larry Woods (Vietnam), and Warren Goss (World War II).  Students also learned from Pittsburgh-native, Janet Felmeth about the sacrifices that all Americans had to make on the homefront during World War II.
