Young Inventors Head to the Statewide Invention Convention
We are thrilled to announce that third-grade GATE students Eloise Coudriet, Tristan Railing, Isaac Sleasman, and Maclan Ulanowicz have earned a spot at the Pennsylvania statewide Invention Convention in Hershey on February 12th.
The students were selected for their invention of "The Foodie." They created the invention to keep track of food expiration dates, alerting the user to what is about to expire, decrease food waste, and prevent foodborne illness. This incredible opportunity highlights our young innovators' creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
This year, the state received 165 online entries, with an additional 200 students participating in regional events and many more engaging in classroom-led innovation activities—totaling nearly 500 student inventors. Out of this talented pool, only 50 inventions were invited to the state competition, making this achievement even more extraordinary. The invitation to Hershey is a testament to the hard work and ingenuity of our students.
We are so proud of their efforts and can’t wait to see how they represent Avonworth School District on the state stage. The Invention Convention Worldwide program is an amazing resource, providing curriculum, social media opportunities, and much more to inspire innovation in students everywhere.
