Avonworth Third Grader Honored as Pittsburgh Penguins Junior Starter

Kennedy skates with the Pittsburgh Penguins

Avonworth third grader Kennedy Kent recently represented her community on NHL ice after being selected as one of only twelve Junior Starters for the Pittsburgh Penguins. Kennedy took part in the January 15 game against the Philadelphia Flyers, an honor awarded to youth players who exemplify leadership, sportsmanship, and a love of the game.

As a Junior Starter, Kennedy skated with the Penguins and stood on the starting line during the national anthem, creating a memorable experience she will never forget. She has long been recognized by her teammates as a leader both on and off the ice.

Kennedy is an avid hockey player who proudly represents Avonworth as a member of the Avonworth Mites and also competes with RMU Selects, Pink Chickletz, and the North Pittsburgh Wildcats. Her dedication and passion for hockey reflect the strong youth sports culture within the Avonworth community.

Avonworth is proud to celebrate Kennedy’s achievement and looks forward to watching her continued success on the ice.
