Students at Avonworth Elementary School recently participated in a school-wide fundraiser to support Life Changing Service Dogs for Veterans, a local organization that trains and provides service dogs to veterans in need. In the weeks leading up to Veterans Day, students donated through classroom jars, learning how small acts of generosity can make a big impact.

Thanks to the support of the Avonworth community, AES raised $1,227 to help provide training, care, and ongoing support for service dogs partnered with veterans.

On Thursday, November 20, third grade students proudly presented the check to retired Air Force Veteran Don Accamando, a board member of Life Changing Service Dogs for Veterans, along with retired Navy Veteran Megan Stanislaw and her service dog, Slugger. Their visit gave students a meaningful opportunity to see how their efforts directly support those who have served our country.
