Pharlan Ives Hired as Avonworth Primary/Elementary Assistant Principal
The Avonworth School District is pleased to announce the hiring of Mrs. Pharlan Ives to be the next Assistant Principal of Avonworth Primary and Avonworth Elementary Schools. Mrs. Ives was chosen from a very competitive, high-quality pool of candidates for this position.
Mrs. Ives began her career in early childhood education in 2005 after receiving her Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Early Childhood Development from Florida State University. After completing her Master’s of Science Degree in Early Childhood and Elementary Education at Duquesne University, Ms. Ives was hired by Quaker Valley School District where she is currently a third-grade teacher. In addition to her classroom responsibilities at Quaker Valley, Ms. Ives has served in multiple leadership roles including Third-Grade Curriculum Leader and the Running & Fitness Club Leader.
“I am ecstatic to welcome Mrs. Ives to our leadership team. Her expertise and experience with elementary education, as well as her strong focus on building strong relationships with children and families is going to be an asset to the Avonworth school community,” stated Dr. Thomas Ralston, Avonworth School District Superintendent.
Mrs. Ives stated, "I personally never made the decision to be an administrator because I could not see myself leaving the classroom. My strong desire to make a positive impact on an entire school community is what has driven me to this work. I am devoted to working closely with teachers, parents, and community members, and I am eagerly looking forward to being a part of the Avonworth family."
Mrs. Ives will officially join the Avonworth family sometime this summer after concluding her school year at Quaker Valley. In her role as the Assistant Principal at Avonworth Primary Center and Avonworth Elementary, she will work closely with students, families, and teachers as she executes a variety of administrative responsibilities.
