What is the HundrED Spotlight Pittsburgh?

The HundrED Spotlight Pittsburgh is a search for the most inspiring innovations in education in southwestern Pennsylvania and northern West Virginia. More than 80 education innovations were submitted to HundrED for consideration as part of the Spotlight. Following a thorough review process by HundrED’s international research team and a local advisory committee in Pittsburgh, 12 innovations were selected for the HundrED Spotlight. See them all at HundrED.org/Pittsburgh.

What do the selected innovations receive?

The selected innovations will be featured on HundrED’s global platform designed to inspire a grassroots movement of education innovations across the world. Each selected innovation will be:

  • Prominently featured on the Pittsburgh Spotlight landing page at HundrED.org/Pittsburgh

  • Highlighted in a comprehensive report on education innovation in the Pittsburgh region published by HundrED

  • Featured in a new, professionally produced video case study

  • Invited to join the Pittsburgh delegation to HundrED’s Innovation Summit in Helsinki, Finland in November 2019

How were innovations selected?

All completed innovations submitted through HundrED.org/Pittsburgh were considered for the Spotlight. Each innovation submitted to the Pittsburgh Spotlight underwent careful review by the HundrED research team and a local Pittsburgh advisory committee of education and innovation leaders and experts. Innovations were scored based on HundrED’s search criteria:

  • Innovative: Causes a valuable improvement within the context

  • Impactful: Established for at least a year with demonstrable evidence

  • Scalable: Adaptable in new environments with commitment to scale

Based on a combined consideration of the evaluation of the HundrED research team, adviser scores, and input from the Grable Foundation and Remake Learning, 12 innovations were selected.
