Swimmers Qualify for States
Based on their performances at the WPIAL Championships, a number of swimmers will be competing at the PIAA State Championship on March 13th and 14th at Bucknell University.
The WPIAL Champion Girls' Team will have 4 entries in the 4 Individual Events along with all 3 Relays Events. Senior Karen Siddoway will be seeded 1st in the 100 Freestyle and 2nd in the 200 Freestyle. She won both events at the WPIAL Championship and was the runner-up last year at the State Championship. Also earning individual event entries were Sophomore Isabella Salerno and Freshman Anna Neiss, both in the 50 Freestyle. The WPIAL Champion 200 and 400 Relay Teams earned births to states as did the 200 Medley Relay. Joining Siddoway, Salerno and Neiss in the Relays will be a combination of Juniors Angie Patarini and Kayley Madey, Sophomores Carley Spahr and Danica Raich and Freshman Ella Ciarimboli.
The WPIAL Championship Runners-up Boys' Team are seeded into 6 Individual Events and the 3 Relay events. Swimming Individual Events will be Senior Aiden Sommers in the 100 Backstroke and 100 Butterfly, Junior Luke Tomzcak in the 200 Individual Medley and 500 Freestyle and Sophomore Cooper Groll in the 100 Freestyle and 200 Freestyle. Sommers, Tomczak and Groll will also swim the Relay Events along with Senior Zach Reskovac, Junior Luke Wagner and Sophomores Clark Bernauer and Graham Herzig.
